Brightstar: A Star In The Wireless World

November 15, 2012

Many young companies would like to be where Brightstar Corporation is right now.  Marcelo Claure is a native of La Paz, Bolivia. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

In 1997, Marcelo started Brightstar which was a small Miami-based trader of cell phones. In 15 years time the company has grown and added other products and services aside from distributing wireless products. Today Brightstar is a multi-billion dollar firm that provides services to the world’s top mobile device manufacturers, retailers, wireless operators and enterprises. It now boasts of being the world’s largest specialized wireless distributor and a leading global service company.

Marcelo and his team were able to transform the company to meet the needs of the various customers it was dealing with from the retailers to the cell phone makers and of course the one’s making it all work, the wireless operators. Brightstar offers value-added services like merchandising, channel sales, inventory management, logistics, supply chain and reverse logistic services. Among the mobile phones it distributes are Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Nokia.

The firm is listed by Forbes as one of the largest private companies in America. The company’s star is truly shining bright.
